Adult Forum - “Preparing for Resurrection” can be a daunting and unsettling journey. Who better to walk the way with than your friends at church? Three Sundays this month(13, 20 & 27) St. Mark’s clergy will offer an Adult Christian Formation Series during the 9:30 hour to address end of life issues. Week 1focuses on how Christians make faithful decisions about when to preserve life and when to let go. The characteristics considered in assessing quality of life, and who should make decisions about our health care and living arrangements when we become incapacitated or impaired, will also be addressed. Rev. Hollar facilitates the discussion this week. Durable Health Care Power of Attorney forms will be available to take home and complete. Week 2, a guest speaker from North Mecklenburg area Hospice will present the dying process with emphasis on navigating the course with dignity. Week 3, Deacon Jane Holmes leads a session on making our own funeral arrangements. A summary of the burial office, the theology of the service and individual planning guides will be worked through. The series is designed to help members articulate their own wishes and develop skills for addressing family dynamics around these emotional and tender issues. Please see Deacon Jane or call the church office for more details
NEWCOMER SERIES - Please join us for our winter Newcomer Series beginning February 3rd at 9:30 in the Sanctuary. All new members are encouraged to attend to learn more about the history of the Episcopal Church, the history of St. Mark’s and what we are about today. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other new members and to discover where your place is at St. Mark’s. The series consists of six non-sequential classes and ends with a welcome breakfast. Therefore, if you missed any part of the last series, please feel free to join us for that piece. It is also open for anyone to attend any class that may be of interest.

They are currently on sale in the office for $11.00. Each Wednesday night at 6:00 pm we will meet in the Osborne Hall for a light meal of soup and bread, followed by a thought provoking discussion lead by Rev. Sarah Hollar from 6:30—7:15. Anyone willing to lead or assist with the children’s program, please call the office. Nursery will be available for children 5 and under.
